Once again, we find ourselves at the mercy of Alexa Chung. Her appearance in an artfully dishevelled pair of dungarees, (kitted out with metallic silver platforms, no less), sparked a trend that’s not going to go quietly. From paint-splattered acid dunga-shorts at House of Holland to long silky floral printed ones at Kinder Aggugini, the overall of choice for builders is no longer limited to the timber yard. Luckily for us, the broad reinvention of the dungaree means you no longer have to have the waist measurement and height of an ex-model to wear this trend. Karmaloop’s paisley printed short style by Motel is a flattering, girly alternative to vintage Levis from the Sixties. A casual printed T-shirt and flats are the easy options for day. If, however, you like your denim done-up, a turtle-neck is able to offer a certain sophistication that slouchy printed jersey cannot. And maybe throw in the metallic platforms for good measure.
