New restaurant Penkul & Banks has just opened in Shoreditch and serves modern tapas and little plates throughout the day. The name and design of the venue is inspired by two well-loved London craftsmen whose furniture workshops were originally situated on the same site on Curtain Road many years ago, Adem E. Penkul and George Banks & Son. Original wooden features remain. The café, bakery and eatery is open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Expect everything from fresh coffee and pastries to Emmental toasties, mini Dexter burgers, BBQ pork buns, fried chicken wings, baby squid and more, with chocolate cheesecake or strawberry and meringue to follow. This is tapas so be prepared to share. However hard it might be.
